The Minister of Energy Recognizes The Working Group's "Forward-looking Initiatives"

Comprised of a broad cross-section of market participants, the SMI Data Standards Working Group is an independent standards body formed to address the technology issues of meter data workflow and data representation—two elements vital to the success of the Ontario Smart Meter Initiative.

To promote the use of open market standards for smart meter data.
To encourage participation in the standards development process.
To define a model for smart meter data workflow.
To define a standard XML representation of the smart meter data.
To guide the certification and testing of smart meter systems and standards.
